About...

The Focus Leadership Institute is a multi-disciplinary academic living-learning environment and leadership training program based out of Colorado Springs. I'm studying here for the Fall 2010 semester while on sabbatical from my regular degree program in Engineering at Rensselaer in upstate New York. These are going to be 4 months of intense rigor, training, and fun.

Blog Created!

Today at FLI...

...I finally created my long-awaited FLI blog! And this is a test entry of sorts: which means I'm experimenting with TEXT SIZE, FONT, Text Color, and images... ooh, check this one out:
A homemade demotivational poster I made the first day at my practicum internship.  Yeah, my next one will be a "we get a lot of work done here" post. This is how we roll in the Strategy Department. It's gotta be humor or bust.
Yeah, I like that picture.  I'm also spicing things up with little things... Things like hyperlinks to fictitious websites and launching scripts to fake email addresses, just for purposes of demonstration, you know?

This helps me get the "look-and-feel" of how the new blog edits.  I kinda like it, don't you? Nifty. I'll bet you haven't heard that word in awhile, have you?  Or, instead of bet, how about wager? When was the last time you heard somebody say "I'll wager that..." and then continue on with their jaunting?  Hmmm? Oh, yeah... reading my blog is going to be a vocabularious workout for some - and yet a plight of relief to others who feel the robust verbosity of the English language is dying to generational gap ignorance.  It's ok, I'm done ranting. (=>)

See, I feel it is my bloggerific responsibility to not only provide my readers with exceptional content, but also to entertain them sufficiently at the same time.  This is no easy task, I can assure you.  And if this post doesn't capture that very attention... well, then I've failed more than just you, the reader.  I've failed myself.  Speaking of Fail, have you ever read the Fail Blog? My favorite fail post is the towing capacity fail - I couldn't stop laughing for 6 whole minutes the first time I saw it.

But I digress from the purpose of this post.  In a little while I'm going to upload all my backdated entries for the full FLI story.  This should be fun - I've added a couple cool things to this blog - a photo slideshow that scrolls through photos, an interactive poll, and even a weather vein stat for Colorado Springs where I'm living these days so you'll know exactly what the weather is like as you're reading my blog!  Cool what technology can do, huh?  Yeah, this is my first "customized" blog, so we'll see if all the bells and whistles actually work.  Maybe this venture will prove experientially whether or not "blogging" is a "proven technology," - or if it's better suited for the beta technology bin of up-and-coming ideas.  Ha.  Enjoy.  You can't buy this form of quirky humor anywhere... and now I know what you're thinking...

Gee, AK --yeah, sure, maybe I can't BUY this kind of entertainment anywhere, but somebody could-- OOOH! CHRISTMAS COLORS!  I LOVE CHRISTMAS--
But if you just did think that (and don't lie - you know you did) -- you missed the point of that last paragraph.  The point was not to think about Christmas cheer and mistletoe (although those things are good thoughts) - it was to make you realize how much richer your life could be if- and when- you come back and read the blog after I actually get content posted up here.

See? There is a reason God made me the way I am - it's STRATEGERY - a word coined by President George W himself.  Trust me, it's my job... really.  I do strategy stuff for a living.  And my practicum.

OK, I'm gonna go do my homework now - which consists entirely of reading books and drinking copious amounts of bottled water.  Seriously.  If you've never been to the high desert plains of Colorado, you'll just have to trust me on this - and for those of you from high desert plains, well... I've already lost your attention so... bon voyage! ...nice talking to you... take care...  OK homework time now.

Imperviously Improvised,
~AK

P.S.
...and for those of you still either looking up the meaning of- or bursting to say- "vocabularious is not a word!!!" --hold your horses there, English Police.  I've used 4 words in this blog post which I've made up entirely - and the purpose is simply to demonstrate another form of humor that I enjoy (and I suspect my readers will too); it is called [blogging] satire. I also make frequent use of hyperbole in my articles - like a million times a day - so consider yourself warned, matey!
